Description
URLs could be constructed which expanded environment variable or INI file values, so potentially sensitive information could be exfiltrated to a remote server on opening a document containing such links. The check added for CVE-2024-12426 did not recognise every way of naming the package content provider, so a URL that named it differently still reached the expansion. In fixed versions the package content provider is matched when the URL is checked.
A vulnerability in LibreOffice allows for the exfiltration of potentially sensitive information by constructing URLs that expand environment variable or INI file values. This issue arises when a document containing such links is opened, sending the extracted information to a remote server. The vulnerability exists because the check implemented for a previous vulnerability did not account for all variations in naming the package content provider, allowing for unauthorized data access. Users are advised to upgrade to LibreOffice version 26.2.5 or later to address this issue.
