CVE-2026-59848 Details
Description
A flaw was found in libssh. A malicious SFTP server can send responses for unknown request IDs that libssh clients keep queued indefinitely, causing unbounded memory growth and client-side denial of service.
A denial-of-service vulnerability has been identified in libssh's handling of SFTP messages. When a malicious SFTP server sends responses with unknown request IDs, libssh clients queue these responses indefinitely. This behavior leads to unbounded memory growth, causing memory exhaustion and a client-side denial-of-service condition.
Users are advised not to connect to untrusted SFTP servers.
