Description
Cap's GET /api/video/ai endpoint fails to validate user ownership or membership before returning private video AI metadata including titles, summaries, and chapters. Authenticated attackers can supply arbitrary video IDs to read sensitive AI-generated content and trigger unauthorized AI generation that consumes the video owner's credits without consent.
A vulnerability exists in Cap's GET /api/video/ai endpoint, where the application fails to verify user ownership or membership before disclosing private video AI metadata. This includes titles, summaries, and chapter information. Authenticated users can exploit this by providing arbitrary video IDs to access sensitive AI-generated content from other users' private recordings. Additionally, this endpoint can be used to trigger unauthorized AI generation, consuming the video owner's credits without their consent.
This vulnerability has been fixed in Cap version 0.5.6, released on July 7, 2026. Users can update to this version to address the issue.
