Description
Use after free in Desktop Window Manager allows an authorized attacker to elevate privileges locally.
A use-after-free vulnerability has been identified in the Desktop Window Manager (DWM) on Windows 11, both in the ARM64 and x64 versions. This vulnerability allows an authorized attacker to elevate privileges locally, potentially gaining SYSTEM-level access. The issue arises from improper memory management, leading to the possibility of accessing freed memory that can be manipulated to execute arbitrary code with elevated rights.
Users can apply the security update KB5101649 to address this vulnerability. This update is available through the Microsoft Update Catalog.
