Description
A vulnerability in the Veeam Updater component of the Veeam Software Appliance that could allow a local user to elevate their privileges and gain root-level access to the underlying operating system.
A vulnerability exists in the Veeam Updater component of the Veeam Software Appliance and Veeam Infrastructure Appliance, both part of Veeam Backup & Replication version 13. This vulnerability allows a local user to elevate privileges and gain root access to the underlying operating system. It does not affect Windows-based Veeam Backup & Replication servers but may impact remote components using the Veeam Infrastructure Appliance.
Users can update to Veeam Updater component version 12.3.0.65 or higher. For most users, this update is applied automatically. If manual intervention is needed, Veeam Support can assist or temporary internet access to the update server must be configured.
