CVE-2026-56815 Details
Description
pwnlift before d7a9544, in a privileged deployment, contains a symlink following vulnerability in the upload handler in Components/Pages/Home.razor.
A symlink following vulnerability has been identified in the Pwnlift file upload server, specifically in the upload handler of the Home.razor component. This vulnerability is present in versions prior to the latest fix and occurs when Pwnlift is deployed with elevated privileges. The issue allows a local user to write arbitrary files as root by exploiting symlink following and a time-of-check to time-of-use race condition in the initial fix.
The vulnerability has been fixed in the latest commit. For users running Pwnlift with elevated privileges, it is recommended to remove the Uploads directory if it exists as a symlink and recreate it as a real directory before applying ownership changes.
