Description
NewsBlur before version 14.5.0 contains a server-side request forgery vulnerability in the add_url endpoint that allows authenticated users to make arbitrary server requests to internal networks by failing to filter private IP addresses. Attackers can exploit this to access localhost services and cloud metadata endpoints, enabling internal network scanning and sensitive data exfiltration.
A server-side request forgery (SSRF) vulnerability has been identified in NewsBlur versions prior to 14.5.0. This vulnerability allows authenticated users to make arbitrary server requests to internal networks through the add_url endpoint, by exploiting the application's failure to properly filter private IP addresses. As a result, attackers could access localhost services and cloud metadata endpoints, potentially leading to internal network scanning and exfiltration of sensitive data.
Users can update to NewsBlur version 14.5.0 or later, where this vulnerability has been patched.
