Description
The ACSE layer contains a flaw in the processing of AARQ PDUs during MMS connection establishment. When parsing certain fields within the calling AP title, an attacker controlled length value of zero or one may cause the parser to read past the end of a heap buffer.
A denial-of-service vulnerability has been identified in the ACSE layer of MZ Automation GmbH's libiec61850 library, versions prior to 1.6.2. The issue arises during the establishment of MMS connections, where the parser incorrectly handles certain fields in the calling AP title. An attacker can exploit this flaw by sending AARQ PDUs with controlled length values of zero or one, causing the parser to read beyond the end of a heap buffer.
Users are advised to update to version 1.6.2.
