CVE-2026-56692 Details
Description
NanoClaw before 2.1.17 contains a symlink following vulnerability in forwardAttachedFiles that allows container-controlled agents to exfiltrate host-readable files. The host validates attachment filenames using only isSafeAttachmentName before copying with fs.copyFileSync, which follows symlinks without containment checks, allowing malicious agents to disclose arbitrary host files.
A symlink following vulnerability has been identified in NanoClaw versions prior to 2.1.17. This vulnerability resides in the forwardAttachedFiles function, where container-controlled agents can exfiltrate host-readable files. The issue arises because the application only validates attachment filenames with the isSafeAttachmentName function before copying files using fs.copyFileSync. This method follows symlinks without proper containment checks, enabling malicious agents to access arbitrary files on the host.
Users can update to NanoClaw version 2.1.17 or later, where this vulnerability has been fixed.
