Description
Capgo before 12.128.2 contains a credential validation vulnerability in the POST /functions/v1/private/validate_password_compliance endpoint that is callable using only the public Supabase key without authentication. The endpoint is CORS-permissive with wildcard origin allowance and lacks rate limiting, enabling attackers to perform password spraying and credential stuffing attacks to compromise user accounts.
A vulnerability in Capgo versions prior to 12.128.2 allows for credential validation via the POST /functions/v1/private/validate_password_compliance endpoint. This endpoint can be accessed using only the public Supabase key, without authentication. It is CORS-permissive, allowing requests from any origin, and lacks rate limiting. These factors enable attackers to conduct password spraying and credential stuffing attacks, potentially compromising user accounts.
To address this vulnerability, it is recommended to require an authenticated user session for the endpoint, enforce server-side captcha verification, and implement strict rate limiting. Consider removing credential validation from this function and relying on client-side policy checks without privileged authentication.
