Description
Capgo before 12.128.2 contains a scope escalation vulnerability in the POST /functions/v1/apikey endpoint that allows app-limited API keys to mint unrestricted keys by setting empty limits. Attackers with a compromised app-limited key can create an unrestricted key with org-wide access to resources like app listings and other protected endpoints.
A scope escalation vulnerability has been identified in Capgo versions prior to 12.128.2. This vulnerability exists in the POST /functions/v1/apikey endpoint, where app-limited API keys can be used to create unrestricted keys by leaving the limits empty. Attackers with a compromised app-limited key can generate an unrestricted key that grants organization-wide access to resources, including app listings and other protected endpoints.
Users are advised to update to Capgo version 12.128.2 or later. Additionally, API key management should be reviewed to ensure that keys with app-specific limitations are not able to create unrestricted keys. Implementing server-side validations to restrict key creation based on the caller's existing permissions can also help mitigate this vulnerability.
