Description
Improper Input Validation (CWE-20) in Kibana can lead to a denial of service via Input Data Manipulation (CAPEC-153). An authenticated user can submit a specially crafted Fleet policy input that is not correctly validated, which can render Fleet agent, server, and policy management functionality unavailable.
A denial-of-service vulnerability has been identified in Elastic Kibana versions 8.0.0 prior to 8.19.16 and 9.0.0 prior to 9.3.6 and 9.4.0 prior to 9.4.3. This issue arises from improper input validation, allowing authenticated users to submit specially crafted Fleet policy inputs that are not properly validated. Exploitation of this vulnerability can disrupt Fleet agent, server, and policy management functionalities, rendering them unavailable.
Users can upgrade to Kibana versions 8.19.17, 9.3.6, or 9.4.3 to address this vulnerability. For users unable to upgrade, no workarounds are available.
