Description
A heap bufferflow in pcfReadFont() due to missing glyph bounds checking in libXfont2 before 2.0.8 allows attackers authenticated as X client to execute code within the X server.
A heap buffer overflow vulnerability has been identified in libXfont2 versions prior to 2.0.8. The issue arises in the pcfReadFont() function, where the absence of proper glyph bounds checking allows authenticated X clients to execute code within the X server. This vulnerability is triggered during the parsing of crafted PCF fonts, which can manipulate bitmap sizes and glyph metrics to overflow the font parsing buffer.
Users are advised to update to libXfont2 version 2.0.8, where this vulnerability has been fixed.
