CVE-2026-54278 Details
Description
AIOHTTP is an asynchronous HTTP client/server framework for asyncio and Python. Prior to 3.14.1, during cleanup it is possible for a compressed request body to be decompressed into memory in one chunk. An attacker may be able to send a compressed payload in specific situations that could be decompressed into memory, potentially leading to DoS (a zip bomb edge case). This vulnerability is fixed in 3.14.1.
A denial-of-service vulnerability has been identified in AIOHTTP, an asynchronous HTTP client/server framework for Python. This issue affects versions of AIOHTTP through 3.14.0. The vulnerability arises during the cleanup process, where a compressed request body can be decompressed in memory all at once. This behavior could be exploited by an attacker who sends a specially crafted compressed payload, creating a 'zip bomb' effect that leads to excessive memory consumption.
Users can upgrade to AIOHTTP version 3.14.1 or later, where this vulnerability has been fixed. If an upgrade is not possible, compression can be disabled as a temporary workaround.
