Description
Integer overflow or wraparound in Windows Terminal allows an unauthorized attacker to execute code locally.
A remote code execution vulnerability has been identified in Windows Terminal due to an integer overflow or wraparound issue. This vulnerability allows an unauthorized attacker to execute code locally. It affects multiple versions of Windows 10, Windows 11, Windows Server 2022, Windows Server 2025, and Windows Terminal for Windows 11 and Windows 10.
Users can download the security update for this vulnerability through the Microsoft Update Catalog. Security update KB5099539 is available for Windows 10 versions 21H2 and 22H2, as well as for Windows 10 version 22H2 for ARM64-based systems. For Windows 11, security update KB5101650 can be downloaded for versions 24H2 and 25H2, both for x64-based and ARM64-based systems. Windows Server 2022 users can also apply security update KB5099540. Windows Server 2025 users can download security update KB5099536, while those using Windows Server 2025 (Server Core installation) can also apply the same update.
