Description
OpenClaw before 2026.5.12 contains a bootstrap token replay vulnerability allowing callers with pending token access to reuse tokens with broader requested scopes. Attackers can replay bootstrap tokens before approval to escalate pairing authority beyond intended scope limits.
A bootstrap token replay vulnerability has been identified in OpenClaw versions prior to 2026.5.12. This vulnerability allows callers with access to pending bootstrap tokens to reuse those tokens before approval, but with broader requested scopes. As a result, attackers could escalate pairing authority beyond the intended limits.
Users are advised to treat pairing codes as sensitive and cancel any unexpected pending pairings until the vulnerability is patched. As a general hardening measure, keep channel and tool allowlists narrow, avoid sharing one Gateway between mutually untrusted users, and disable the affected feature when it is not needed.
