Description
OpenClaw before 2026.5.12 contains an allowlist bypass vulnerability in PowerShell encoded-command handling that allows attackers to execute encoded commands using abbreviated flag aliases not recognized by the allowlist parser. Remote authenticated operators can bypass execution allowlist checks by using unrecognized encoded-command alias forms to execute arbitrary PowerShell content.
A vulnerability allowing allowlist bypass in PowerShell encoded-command handling has been identified in OpenClaw versions prior to 2026.5.12. This vulnerability allows remote authenticated operators to execute encoded commands by using abbreviated flag aliases that are not recognized by the allowlist parser. As a result, arbitrary PowerShell content can be executed, bypassing the intended execution allowlist checks.
Users are advised to update to OpenClaw version 2026.5.12 or later. Until then, avoid allowlisting PowerShell wrapper forms and require approval for encoded commands. As a general hardening measure, keep channel and tool allowlists narrow, avoid sharing one Gateway between mutually untrusted users, and disable the affected feature when not needed.
