CVE-2026-53817 Details
Description
OpenClaw before 2026.5.22 contains a locality validation vulnerability in Control UI pairing that allows attackers with network access to spoof locality information and obtain durable admin-capable device tokens. Attackers can exploit insufficient locality-derived trust validation to convert temporary shared access into persistent administrative credentials that survive token rotation.
A locality validation vulnerability has been identified in OpenClaw versions prior to 2026.5.22. This vulnerability exists in the Control UI pairing process, where attackers with network access can spoof locality information to obtain durable device tokens with administrative capabilities. The exploitation of this vulnerability allows for the conversion of temporary shared access into persistent administrative credentials that remain effective even after token rotation.
Users are advised to upgrade to OpenClaw version 2026.5.22 or later. For older deployments, remove any unexpectedly paired devices and avoid exposing Control UI pairing paths on networks with untrusted clients.
