Description
An issue in SJCAM AllWinner Tech products SJ4000-Air V1.4C and before and Whitelabel based v.1.4C and before allows an attacker to execute arbitrary code via a crafted FEX file
A vulnerability exists in SJCAM AllWinner Tech products, specifically in the SJ4000-Air model, all versions through V1.4C, as well as in Whitelabel cameras running the same firmware version. This vulnerability allows an attacker to execute arbitrary code by uploading a crafted FEX file via an exposed HTTP endpoint. The malicious FEX file is accepted without authentication or validation and can be used to overwrite the camera's firmware with harmful modifications. The issue is exacerbated by the fact that the camera's update process can be manipulated to execute the malicious firmware, potentially causing damage or allowing further exploitation of the device.
SJCAM has released a firmware update for the SJ4000-Air model that addresses this vulnerability. Users are advised to update their cameras to the latest version.
