Description
A Denial of Service (DoS) vulnerability exists in the receive loop of libmodbus 3.1.12 when running on Windows. The issue stems from improper timeout management during network read operations.
A denial-of-service vulnerability has been identified in libmodbus version 3.1.12, specifically when running on Windows. The issue arises in the receive loop of the Modbus TCP implementation, where improper management of timeouts during network read operations can be exploited by remote, unauthenticated attackers. This exploitation allows the attacker to block the server's ability to process legitimate Modbus communications, effectively causing a denial-of-service condition.
