Description
Exposure of sensitive information to an unauthorized actor in Windows File Explorer allows an authorized attacker to disclose information locally.
A vulnerability in Windows File Explorer allows an authorized attacker to locally disclose sensitive information to an unauthorized actor. This issue affects multiple Windows versions, including Windows 10, Windows 11, Windows Server 2016, Windows Server 2019, and Windows Server 2022. The vulnerability arises from improper handling of server object addresses, which could be exploited to reveal this information.
Users can apply the security update KB5099539 for Windows 10 and Windows 11, and KB5099538 for Windows Server 2019. For Windows Server 2022, the security update is KB5099540. These updates can be downloaded via the Microsoft Update Catalog.
