Description
Heap-based buffer overflow in Windows Resilient File System (ReFS) allows an unauthorized attacker to execute code locally.
A heap-based buffer overflow vulnerability has been identified in the Windows Resilient File System (ReFS). This vulnerability allows an unauthorized attacker to execute code locally. It affects multiple versions of Windows 10, Windows 11, Windows Server 2016, Windows Server 2019, Windows Server 2022, and Windows Server 2025, including their respective Server Core installations.
Users can download the security update for this vulnerability via the Microsoft Update Catalog. Security Update KB5099539 is available for Windows 10 and Windows 11, while Security Update KB5099538 is for Windows Server 2019. Windows Server 2022 users can also download the corresponding security update. For Windows Server 2025, the security update KB5099536 is available.
