Description
pypdf is a free and open-source pure-python PDF library. Prior to 6.12.2, an attacker who uses this vulnerability can craft a PDF which leads to large memory usage. This requires extracting the text of a page which contains a form XObject with self-references. This vulnerability is fixed in 6.12.2.
A memory exhaustion vulnerability has been identified in pypdf, a pure-Python PDF library, affecting versions prior to 6.12.2. The issue arises when extracting text from a PDF page that contains a form XObject with self-references, leading to excessive memory usage. This vulnerability has been addressed in version 6.12.2.
Users can upgrade to pypdf version 6.12.2 or apply the changes from pull request #3805 if an immediate upgrade is not possible.
