Description
pypdf is a free and open-source pure-python PDF library. Prior to 6.12.2, an attacker who uses this vulnerability can craft a PDF which leads to long runtimes. This requires accessing a stream which uses the /FlateDecode filter with a PNG predictor. This vulnerability is fixed in 6.12.2.
A denial-of-service vulnerability has been identified in pypdf, a pure-Python PDF library, in versions prior to 6.12.2. The issue arises when an attacker crafts a PDF that exploits the /FlateDecode filter with a PNG predictor, leading to prolonged processing times. This vulnerability has been addressed in version 6.12.2.
Users can upgrade to pypdf version 6.12.2 or later to address this vulnerability. If an immediate upgrade is not possible, the changes from PR #3806 can be applied as a temporary workaround.
