Description
Server-Side Request Forgery (CWE-918) in Kibana can allow an authenticated user with connector management privileges to bypass the operator-configured connector allowlist, causing the Kibana server to issue outbound requests to destinations the egress controls were intended to block.
A Server-Side Request Forgery (SSRF) vulnerability has been identified in Elastic Kibana versions 9.3.0 prior to 9.3.2. This vulnerability allows an authenticated user with connector management privileges to bypass the operator-configured connector allowlist. As a result, the Kibana server can make outbound requests to destinations that should be blocked by egress controls. The issue arises in deployments where 'xpack.actions.allowedHosts' is set to a non-wildcard value, creating a network egress control. Those using the default setting are not affected.
Users can upgrade to Kibana version 9.3.3 to address this vulnerability. For those unable to upgrade, it is recommended to restrict connector management privileges.
