CVE-2026-48945 Details
Description
The K2 article gallery upload path accepts a zip/tar archive, extracts it under `/media/k2/galleries/<id>/`, and only renames image files (gif/jpg/jpeg/png/webp) to safe names — non-image files (including `.php`) are extracted as-is and remain executable via direct HTTP access.
A vulnerability in the K2 article gallery upload feature allows users to upload zip or tar archives containing non-image files, such as PHP scripts. These archives are extracted to a directory under '/media/k2/galleries/<id>/' and while image files are renamed to safe formats, non-image files are extracted as-is and remain executable via direct HTTP access. This issue affects K2 versions 2.10.3 prior to 2.11, on Joomla versions 1.5, 2.5, and 3.x.
