Description
A flaw in Node.js TLS hostname handling can cause Node.js unicode dot separator handling can lead to tls wildcard-depth authentication bypass due to resolver and verifier hostname normalization mismat. This can lead to confidentiality impact or bypass of the intended security boundary under affected configurations. This vulnerability affects all supported release lines: **Node.js 22**, **Node.js 24**, and **Node.js 26**.
A vulnerability in Node.js's handling of TLS hostnames can lead to a wildcard authentication bypass. This issue arises from a mismatch in how resolvers and verifiers normalize hostnames, particularly with Unicode dot separators. As a result, the vulnerability can create a confidentiality risk or allow bypassing of security boundaries in certain configurations. This flaw affects all supported release lines of Node.js: 22, 24, and 26.
Users can upgrade to Node.js versions 22.23.0, 24.17.0, or 26.3.1 to address this vulnerability.
