CVE-2026-48558 Details
Description
SimpleHelp versions 5.5.15 and prior and 6.0 pre-release versions contain an authentication bypass vulnerability in the OIDC authentication flow. When OIDC authentication is configured, identity tokens submitted during login are accepted without verifying their cryptographic signature. In a vulnerable configuration, a remote, unauthenticated attacker can submit a forged token containing arbitrary identity claims to obtain a fully authenticated technician session. In some configurations, this may also allow bypass of multi-factor authentication. No user interaction is required.
An authentication bypass vulnerability has been identified in SimpleHelp versions 5.5.15 and prior, as well as in some pre-release versions of 6.0. The issue arises in the OpenID Connect (OIDC) authentication flow, where identity tokens are accepted without proper verification of their cryptographic signature. This vulnerability allows remote, unauthenticated attackers to submit forged tokens with arbitrary identity claims, gaining access to fully authenticated technician sessions. In certain configurations, this could also bypass multi-factor authentication. The vulnerability is present when OIDC is enabled, a TechnicianGroup is associated with the OIDC provider, and 'Allow group authenticated logins' is enabled on the TechnicianGroup.
Users are advised to update to SimpleHelp version 5.5.16 or the 6.0 release candidate. Instructions for downloading these versions are available on the SimpleHelp website.
