Description
Budibase is an open-source low-code platform. Prior to 3.39.0, the Budibase Text component renders markdown by assigning marked.parse(markdown) straight to innerHTML with no sanitizer (packages/bbui/src/Markdown/MarkdownViewer.svelte:22). Any column a builder binds to a Text component in Markdown mode is a stored-XSS sink writable by every BASIC app user with WRITE on the underlying table. This vulnerability is fixed in 3.39.0.
A stored cross-site scripting vulnerability has been identified in the Budibase Text component, affecting versions prior to 3.39.0. The issue arises because the component renders markdown by directly assigning the parsed markdown to innerHTML without any sanitization. This creates a sink for stored XSS that can be exploited by any BASIC app user with write access to the underlying table. The vulnerability is present in both Budibase Cloud and self-hosted versions.
Users are advised to update to Budibase version 3.39.0 or later, where this vulnerability has been fixed.
