Description
Hulumi is an open-source toolkit that ships secure-by-default cloud and platform infrastructure components for Pulumi. Prior to version 1.4.0, there is a bypass via decoy sibling resources targeting a different bucket. This issue has been patched in version 1.4.0.
A vulnerability exists in the Hulumi toolkit, specifically in the '@hulumi/policies' package, prior to version 1.4.0. This issue involves a bypass of access controls related to raw AWS S3 buckets. The vulnerability allows the pairing of an unhardened raw bucket with decoy sibling resources that incorrectly claim to provide the necessary hardening, effectively misleading users about the bucket's security status.
Users can upgrade to '@hulumi/policies' version 1.4.0, which addresses this vulnerability by ensuring that sibling resource checks correctly reference the exempted bucket and are associated with the same parent 'SecureBucket' instance.
