Description
Hulumi is an open-source toolkit that ships secure-by-default cloud and platform infrastructure components for Pulumi. Prior to version 1.4.0, IAM-role policy checks can be bypassed when the role trusts multiple OIDC providers. This issue has been patched in version 1.4.0.
A vulnerability exists in Hulumi versions prior to 1.4.0, allowing IAM role policy checks to be bypassed when a role trusts multiple OIDC providers. This issue arises because the policy validation fails to recognize GitHub Actions as a trusted provider when the 'Principal.Federated' field contains a JSON array of multiple providers. As a result, roles can be configured with permissive trust policies that allow untrusted pull requests to assume the role, while the policy validation incorrectly reports compliance.
Users can upgrade to Hulumi version 1.4.0, which includes the necessary fix. The updated version is available on the Hulumi GitHub Releases page.
