Description
TinyMCE is an open source rich text editor. Prior to 5.11.1, 7.9.3, and 8.5.1, there is a stored XSS vulnerability via forged mce:protected comments. Allows attackers to bypass sanitization and inject scripts that execute when content is restored. Impacts users who utilize the protect option. This vulnerability is fixed in 5.11.1, 7.9.3, and 8.5.1.
A stored cross-site scripting (XSS) vulnerability has been identified in TinyMCE versions prior to 5.11.1, 7.0.0 prior to 7.9.3, and 8.0.0 prior to 8.5.1. The vulnerability allows attackers to inject scripts into forged mce:protected comments, bypassing sanitization. These injected scripts are executed when the content is restored, impacting users who utilize the protect option.
Users can upgrade to TinyMCE 8.5.1, 7.9.3, or 5.11.1 LTS. Version 5.11.1 LTS is only available as part of a commercial long-term support contract.
