Description
Quest Bot is an opensource Discord Bot. Prior to version 1.1.6, the purge and slowmode commands check only guild-level permissions on the invoking member. They do not check the member’s effective permissions in the channel where the command is run. A user denied channel-level moderation permissions can still delete messages or change slowmode through the bot. This issue has been patched in version 1.1.6.
A vulnerability exists in Quest Bot, an open-source Discord bot, in versions prior to 1.1.6. The issue arises in the 'purge' and 'slowmode' commands, which only verify guild-level permissions of the user. They fail to consider the user's effective permissions in the specific channel where the command is executed. As a result, a user with restricted channel-level moderation rights can still use the bot to delete messages or adjust slowmode settings. This vulnerability has been addressed in version 1.1.6.
Users can update to Quest Bot version 1.1.6, where this vulnerability has been fixed.
