CVE-2026-46258 Details
Description
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: gpio: cdev: Avoid NULL dereference in linehandle_create() In linehandle_create(), there is a statement like this: retain_and_null_ptr(lh); Soon after, there is a debug printout that dereferences "lh", which will crash things. Avoid the crash by using handlereq.lines, which is the same value.
A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's GPIO character device handling has been addressed. The issue was a NULL dereference in the 'linehandle_create()' function, which could lead to a crash. This occurred because the function retained a NULL pointer and then attempted to dereference it shortly after, causing a failure. The vulnerability has been fixed by modifying the function to use a different value that avoids the NULL dereference.
Users can upgrade to the latest version of the Linux kernel where this vulnerability has been fixed. The specific commit addressing this issue can be found in the Linux kernel stable tree.
