CVE-2026-45793 Details
Description
Composer is a dependency Manager for the PHP language. Prior to 1.10.28, 2.2.28, and 2.9.8, Composer\IO\BaseIO::loadConfiguration() validates GitHub OAuth tokens with the regex ^[.A-Za-z0-9_]+$ and interpolates rejected tokens into an UnexpectedValueException; GitHub Actions GITHUB_TOKEN values using the ghs_<id>_<base64url-JWT> format can contain -, fail validation, and be disclosed to stderr or CI logs. This issue is fixed in versions 1.10.28, 2.2.28, and 2.9.8.
A vulnerability in Composer's GitHub OAuth token validation allows for the leakage of tokens to standard error or continuous integration logs. This issue arises because Composer's validation regex for GitHub tokens does not accommodate the new token format introduced by GitHub Actions, which includes hyphens. As a result, tokens in this format fail validation and are inadvertently disclosed. The vulnerability is present in Composer versions prior to 1.10.28, 2.2.28, and 2.9.8.
Users can update to Composer versions 1.10.28, 2.2.28, or 2.9.8, where this vulnerability has been fixed.
