Description
Heap-based buffer overflow in Windows Kernel allows an authorized attacker to elevate privileges locally.
A use-after-free vulnerability in the Windows Kernel has been identified, allowing an authorized attacker to locally elevate privileges. This vulnerability affects multiple versions of Windows 10, Windows 11, and various Windows Server releases. The issue arises from a heap-based buffer overflow, which requires the attacker to exploit a race condition to successfully gain SYSTEM privileges.
Users can apply the security update KB5094127 for Windows 10, KB5093998 for Windows 11, and KB5094125 for Windows Server 2025. For other affected Windows Server versions, the corresponding security update can be found in the Monthly Rollup.
