CVE-2026-44932 Details
Description
Passing of unsanitized strings from DHCP replies into the wicked dhcp client before wicked 0.6.79 could be used by attackers operating a malicious DHCP server to execute code on the local machine.
A vulnerability in the openSUSE Wicked DHCP client, prior to version 0.6.79, allows for indirect remote shell command injection. This issue arises from the processing of unsanitized DHCP options, which are written to leaseinfo files. Although Wicked does not source these files by default, third-party scripts may execute the unsanitized input, potentially leading to unauthorized code execution on the local machine.
Users can update to Wicked version 0.6.79 or later, which addresses the vulnerability by sanitizing DHCP options before they are written to the leaseinfo files. Instructions for updating are available on the SUSE website.
