Description
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: ata: libata-core: Disable LPM on ST1000DM010-2EP102 According to a user report, the ST1000DM010-2EP102 has problems with LPM, causing random system freezes. The drive belongs to the same BarraCuda family as the ST2000DM008-2FR102 which has the same issue.
A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's handling of low power management (LPM) has been addressed for the Seagate ST1000DM010-2EP102 hard drive. This drive, part of the BarraCuda family, was reported to cause random system freezes due to LPM issues. The same problem exists with the ST2000DM008-2FR102 model, which shares the same family lineage. The vulnerability arises from the kernel's power management policies, which can inadvertently lead to system instability when applied to certain hard drive models.
The Linux kernel has been updated to disable low power management for the ST1000DM010-2EP102 drive. Users should upgrade to the latest version of the Linux kernel where this issue has been addressed.
