Description
A security issue was discovered in ingress-nginx where a combination of Ingress annotations can be used to inject configuration into nginx. This can lead to arbitrary code execution in the context of the ingress-nginx controller, and disclosure of Secrets accessible to the controller. (Note that in the default installation, the controller can access all Secrets cluster-wide.)
A vulnerability exists in ingress-nginx versions prior to 1.13.9, 1.14.5, and 1.15.1. It allows the injection of Nginx configuration through specific Ingress annotations. This injection can result in arbitrary code execution within the ingress-nginx controller and the unauthorized disclosure of Secrets that the controller can access. By default, the ingress-nginx controller has access to all Secrets across the cluster.
Users can upgrade to ingress-nginx versions 1.13.9, 1.14.5, or 1.15.1. Release builds for these versions are available from the usual distribution channels.
