CVE-2026-43386 Details
Description
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: staging: rtl8723bs: fix potential out-of-bounds read in rtw_restruct_wmm_ie The current code checks 'i + 5 < in_len' at the end of the if statement. However, it accesses 'in_ie[i + 5]' before that check, which can lead to an out-of-bounds read. Move the length check to the beginning of the conditional to ensure the index is within bounds before accessing the array.
A potential out-of-bounds read vulnerability has been identified in the Linux kernel's RTL8723BS Wi-Fi driver, specifically in the WMM information element restructuring function. The issue arises because the code accesses an array element before verifying that the index is within the valid range, which can lead to reading memory outside of the intended bounds. This vulnerability affects several versions of the Linux kernel.
Users can upgrade to the latest version of the Linux kernel where this vulnerability has been patched. The patch is available in the Linux kernel stable tree.
