CVE-2026-42952 Details
Description
Previously, there was no throttling on repeated authentication attempts to the charging station backend, which could allow an attacker to execute a denial-of-service attack.
A denial-of-service vulnerability has been identified in the Hydro-Québec Le Circuit Électrique charging station backend. This issue arises from the lack of throttling on repeated authentication attempts, which could allow an attacker to overwhelm the backend by executing a denial-of-service attack. The vulnerability is present in the charging station backend software.
Hydro-Québec has updated most charging stations to disable the Open Charge Point Protocol (OCPP), mitigating the risk of exploitation. For charging stations that still rely on OCPP, Hydro-Québec has implemented authentication systems to address the issue. Contact Hydro-Québec for further assistance.
