CVE-2026-42888 Details
Description
Audiobookshelf is a self-hosted audiobook and podcast server. Prior to 2.32.2, the podcast creation endpoint at server/controllers/PodcastController.js accepts a user-controlled file path without sufficient boundary validation to ensure it remains within the intended library directory. This vulnerability is fixed in 2.32.2.
A path traversal vulnerability has been identified in Audiobookshelf, a self-hosted audiobook and podcast server, in versions prior to 2.32.2. The issue arises in the podcast creation endpoint, where user-controlled file paths are accepted without adequate validation. This lack of boundary checks allows attackers to manipulate file paths, potentially accessing or modifying files outside the designated library directory.
Users can update to Audiobookshelf version 2.33.2 or later, where this vulnerability has been patched.
