Description
Admidio is an open-source user management solution. Prior to version 5.0.9, the incomplete SSRF fix in Admidio's fetch_metadata.php validates the resolved IP address but passes the original hostname-based URL to curl_init(), leaving a DNS rebinding TOCTOU window that allows redirecting requests to internal IPs. This issue has been patched in version 5.0.9.
A server-side request forgery (SSRF) vulnerability has been identified in Admidio versions prior to 5.0.9. The issue arises in the fetch_metadata.php file, where the application validates resolved IP addresses but inadvertently allows DNS rebinding attacks. This flaw can be exploited to redirect requests to internal IP addresses, potentially accessing sensitive metadata services or internal resources.
Users are advised to update to Admidio version 5.0.9 or later, and to use the CURLOPT_RESOLVE option in cURL to pin hostnames to validated IP addresses, ensuring that requests are not redirected to internal services.
