Description
An attacker with write permissions to the database table managed by JdbcAssertingPartyMetadataRepository (saml2_asserting_party_metadata) may be able to store malicious serialized payloads in the columns containing the collection of verification or encryption credentials (verification_credentials and encryption_credentials, respectively). Affected versions: Spring Security 7.0.0 through 7.0.5.
A vulnerability exists in Spring Security versions 7.0.0 through 7.0.5, allowing an attacker with write permissions to the 'saml2_asserting_party_metadata' database table to inject malicious serialized payloads. These payloads could be stored in the 'verification_credentials' and 'encryption_credentials' columns, potentially leading to remote code execution on the server that processes these database rows.
Users should upgrade to Spring Security version 7.0.6. If issues arise during the upgrade, consult the TRACE logs for deserialization errors and consider setting a custom deserializer with 'AssertingPartyMetadataRowMapper#setCredentialsDeserializer'.
