Description
Improper Input Validation in the decode() function of the traceparser library could allow an attacker with a corrupted kernel trace event log (.kev) file, to execute arbitrary code or cause a crash in processes that use libtraceparser in QNX hosts or targets.
A vulnerability has been identified in the QNX Software Development Platform's traceparser library, specifically in the decode() function. This improper input validation could enable an attacker to execute arbitrary code or cause a crash in processes that utilize libtraceparser, on QNX hosts or targets. The vulnerability affects QNX SDP versions 8.0, 7.1, and 7.0.
QNX has released patches for this vulnerability in QNX SDP 8.0, 7.1, and 7.0. Instructions for downloading these updates are available in the QNX security advisory.
