CVE-2026-36499 Details
Description
A missing upper-bound check in the udpif_set_threads() function of Open vSwitch v3.6.90 allows an attacker with OVSDB write access to request an excessive number of handler or revalidation threads. This can cause a denial of service (DoS) via resource exhaustion.
A denial-of-service vulnerability has been identified in Open vSwitch (OVS) version 3.6.90. The issue arises from a missing upper-bound check in the 'udpif_set_threads()' function, which allows an attacker with OVSDB write access to request an excessive number of handler or revalidation threads. This misconfiguration can lead to resource exhaustion, causing the OVS daemon to crash and disrupting the availability of the OVS switch.
The vulnerability can be addressed by adding an upper limit to the number of threads allowed in the 'udpif_set_threads()' function.
