Description
GNCC GP5 v7.1.76 was discovered to utilize a weak hashing algorithm to protect the root password, possibly allowing attackers to obtain root credentials and privileges via a bruteforce attack.
A vulnerability exists in the GNCC GP5 camera, specifically in firmware version 7.1.76, due to the use of a weak hashing algorithm (MD5) to protect the root password. This flaw could allow attackers to obtain root credentials through a brute force attack. Additionally, the vulnerability is part of a larger chain of issues that could lead to unauthorized access and impersonation on the device's cloud infrastructure.
As of now, there is no patch available for this vulnerability. Users are advised to isolate the device from the internet and consider replacing it, as factory resets do not remove sensitive data such as cryptographic keys and passwords.
