Description
The WP Customer Area plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to arbitrary file read and deletion due to insufficient file path validation in the 'ajax_attach_file' function in all versions up to, and including, 8.3.4. This makes it possible for authenticated attackers with a role that an administrator grants access to (e.g., Subscriber) to to read the contents of arbitrary files on the server, which can contain sensitive information, or delete arbitrary files on the server, which can easily lead to remote code execution when the right file is deleted (such as wp-config.php).
A vulnerability in the WP Customer Area plugin for WordPress, affecting all versions through 8.3.4, allows authenticated attackers to read and delete arbitrary files on the server. This issue arises from inadequate file path validation in the 'ajax_attach_file' function. Attackers with a role granted access by an administrator, such as Subscriber, can exploit this vulnerability to access sensitive information or delete critical files, potentially leading to remote code execution.
Users are advised to update the WP Customer Area plugin to version 8.3.5 or later.
