CVE-2026-33985 Details
Description
FreeRDP is a free implementation of the Remote Desktop Protocol. Prior to version 3.24.2, pixel data from adjacent heap memory is rendered to screen, potentially leaking sensitive data to the attacker. This issue has been patched in version 3.24.2.
A heap-based buffer overflow vulnerability has been identified in FreeRDP versions prior to 3.24.2. The issue arises in the ClearCodec glyph data processing, where pixel data from adjacent heap memory can be incorrectly rendered to the screen. This flaw creates a potential avenue for sensitive data leakage to an attacker. The vulnerability is triggered by an improper management of glyph cache counts, leading to out-of-bounds memory reads.
Users should update FreeRDP to version 3.24.2 or later, where this vulnerability has been patched.
