CVE-2026-31699 Details
Description
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: crypto: ccp: Don't attempt to copy CSR to userspace if PSP command failed When retrieving the PEK CSR, don't attempt to copy the blob to userspace if the firmware command failed. If the failure was due to an invalid length, i.e. the userspace buffer+length was too small, copying the number of bytes _firmware_ requires will overflow the kernel-allocated buffer and leak data to userspace. A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's crypto component, specifically within the CCP driver, has been addressed. This issue could lead to a buffer overflow and data leakage when the PEK CSR (Certificate Signing Request) is retrieved. The vulnerability arises because the firmware command may fail, particularly if the userspace buffer is too small. In such cases, the kernel attempts to copy a larger-than-appropriate number of bytes, causing an overflow and leaking data to userspace. The problem was identified through a KASAN (Kernel Address Sanitizer) report, which highlighted a slab-out-of-bounds error due to the improper handling of the CSR length.
Users can upgrade to the latest stable version of the Linux kernel, where this vulnerability has been fixed. Instructions for downloading the patched version are available on the official Linux kernel website.
